  • What makes an Iyengar Yoga Certified Teacher?
    Iyengar Yoga Certified Teachers have been through a rigurate formation of at least 3-4 years. Certified by RIMYI, India. Pune. Certified Teachers are listed and belong to Iyengar Yoga Associations of the region to continue developing and nurturing from international seminars and bonding with the community of Iyengar Teaches and Students in their region as well as internationally. Since Portugal doesn’t have its Association, Cecilia currently belongs to the Spanish one: AEYI.
  • What are the key factors in Iyengar Yoga?
    The 4 key factors in this method are: 1) Precision 2) Timing 3) Sequencing 4) Permanence
  • What is a regular class like?
    Classes last 1:15h. Practice begins the moment you arrive at the studio. We’ll start with an invocation to Patanjali, followed by the week's subject and end with a deep guided relaxation, in Savasana. Families of asanas are organised through weeks, to cover the whole spectrum of asanas. Considering a a month to have 4 weeks, they are organised like this: First week: standing asanas. Second week: sitting and forward bend asanas. Third week: abdominal asanas and backbends. Fourth week: restorative.
  • What’s needed to get started?
    Motivation and appearing in the first class. The rest will naturally cultivate if it resonates with you. No material is needed,the studio provides mats & props, Just bring comfortable clothes and an empty belly. No previous experience is needed. Beginners are suggested to get started at Beginners class. But still, since classes are limited to few students, adaptations will be suggested when needed to adjust to each one's need.
  • What’s should i consider before the practice? Food, clothing & material
    FOOD & DIGESTION Fast for at least 2 hours after a large meal, or 30-60 minutes after a light meal. CLOTHING Wear comfortable light coloured clothes that allow you to see the joints of the body (knees, ankles & elbows) to facilitate posture corrections. MATERIALS No need to bring your own yoga mat, although it is always recommeneded. Sudio provides all the props for the practice.
  • How do bookings work?
    You can choose any class from the schedule that works best for you. However, please note that your spot is not automatically reserved, and some classes have limited spaces. Be sure to book in advance to avoid surprises! If there are no bookings, the teacher will not show up to teach the class.
  • Cancellation Windows:
    Booking window closes: 3 hours before class. Free cancellation window: 8 hours before class starts. Waitlist: Yogis can be removed from the waitlist, up to 3 hours before class starts.
  • How should I notify changes on my membership?
    Any modifications to your membership must be communicated via email to iyengaremlisboa@gmail.com at least 10 days in advance. This ensures that we can process your request on time. If we do not receive your request within this timeframe, we reserve the right to be unable to process it as outlined above.
  • When does my Membership or Pass start?
    Your Membership or Pass will start on the purchase date by default, unless you select a different start date if needed.
  • How long are the drop-ins, passes, and memberships valid for?
    All drop-ins, passes, and memberships are valid for 1 month from the date of purchase or the start date you select.
  • Do I need to pay an Annual Registration fee?
    Yes, an Annual Registration fee is mandatory for all class modalities, including drop-in, passes, or memberships. It is a one-time payment and remains valid for 1 year.
